Cabbage becomes tender and slightly sweet when cooked, while eggs add richness and protein. Together, they create a hearty dish that works perfectly for breakfast, lunch, or even a light dinner. Whether served on its own or alongside toast, rice, or potatoes, cabbage and eggs is a comforting recipe that comes together in minutes.

Below is a step-by-step guide to making this simple and delicious dish.

Ingredients

To prepare cabbage and eggs, you will need:

  • 1 small head of cabbage
  • 3 to 4 large eggs
  • 1 small onion (optional but recommended for flavor)
  • 2 tablespoons cooking oil or butter
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • Salt, to taste
  • Black pepper, to taste
  • ½ teaspoon paprika or chili flakes (optional)
  • Fresh parsley or green onions for garnish (optional)

Preparing the Ingredients

Start by washing the cabbage thoroughly under cold water. Remove any damaged outer leaves. Cut the cabbage into quarters and remove the tough core. Slice the cabbage into thin strips so it cooks quickly and evenly.

Next, peel and finely chop the onion. Mince the garlic cloves and set them aside. Crack the eggs into a small bowl and lightly beat them with a fork until the yolks and whites are combined.

Having all your ingredients prepared beforehand will make the cooking process smooth and quick.

Step 1: Sauté the Aromatics

Place a large skillet or frying pan over medium heat and add the oil or butter. Once the oil is hot, add the chopped onion. Cook the onion for about 2–3 minutes, stirring occasionally, until it becomes soft and slightly translucent.

Add the minced garlic and cook for another 30 seconds. Garlic cooks quickly, so stir constantly to prevent burning. This step builds the base flavor of the dish.
