Seafood Salad: A Fresh, Flavorful Classic

Seafood salad is a light, refreshing dish that brings together the delicate flavors of the ocean with crisp vegetables and a creamy or zesty dressing. It’s perfect for warm days, quick lunches, or elegant starters. The beauty of seafood salad lies in its versatility—you can customize it with your favorite seafood and seasonings while keeping the preparation simple.

Ingredients

Here’s a balanced version that combines flavor and texture:

Seafood

  • 200g shrimp (peeled and deveined)
  • 200g crab meat (or imitation crab sticks)
  • 150g calamari (squid rings)

Vegetables

  • 1 cup celery (finely chopped)
  • ½ cup red onion (finely diced)
  • ½ cup cucumber (chopped, seeds removed)
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley (chopped)

Dressing

  • ½ cup mayonnaise
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice (freshly squeezed)
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Optional Add-ins

  • Avocado slices
  • Cherry tomatoes
  • A pinch of paprika or chili flakes

Step-by-Step Method

Step 1: Prepare the Seafood

Start by cooking the seafood properly:

  • Bring a pot of salted water to a gentle boil.
  • Add shrimp and cook for 2–3 minutes until pink and firm.
  • Add calamari and cook for about 1–2 minutes (avoid overcooking to keep it tender).
  • Drain and immediately transfer to ice water to stop cooking.

If you’re using pre-cooked crab meat or imitation crab, simply chop it into bite-sized pieces.

Step 2: Chop and Prep Ingredients

  • Finely chop the celery, onion, and cucumber.
  • Make sure all pieces are small and uniform for a better texture.
  • Pat vegetables dry to avoid watering down the salad.
