Creamy Brazilian Lemonade (Limonada Suíça)

Creamy Brazilian Lemonade, known in Brazil as Limonada Suíça, is a refreshing, sweet-tart drink that surprises many people because it’s actually made with limes, not lemons. Its signature creamy texture comes from sweetened condensed milk, giving it a smooth, almost dessert-like quality while still being incredibly refreshing—perfect for hot days.

What makes this drink unique is that the whole limes (including the peel) are briefly blended with water and sugar, extracting intense citrus flavor in seconds.

Ingredients

To make about 4 servings, you’ll need:

  • 4 fresh limes (thin-skinned if possible)
  • 4 cups cold water
  • 1/3 to 1/2 cup sugar (adjust to taste)
  • 3 tablespoons sweetened condensed milk
  • Ice cubes

Step-by-Step Method

1. Prepare the Limes

Start by washing the limes thoroughly since you’ll be using part of the peel.

  • Cut off the ends of each lime.
  • Slice each lime into 6–8 wedges.
  • Remove any visible seeds to avoid bitterness.

👉 Tip: Don’t overuse the white pith (the inner white layer), as it can make the drink taste bitter.

2. Blend Quickly

Place the lime wedges into a blender and add:

  • 4 cups cold water
  • Sugar

Blend for only 10–15 seconds.

⚠️ Important: Do not overblend. Blending too long releases bitterness from the peel.
