Cheeseburger Wonton Cups

No photo description available.

Cheeseburger Wonton Cups are a fun fusion appetizer that combines everything people love about a classic cheeseburger—savory beef, melted cheese, tangy pickles, and ketchup-mustard flavor—packed into a crisp, edible wonton shell. They’re often served at parties, game nights, or as quick family snacks because they’re easy to assemble, bake quickly, and can be customized in countless ways.

What makes them especially appealing is the texture contrast: the wonton wrapper turns golden and crunchy in the oven while the filling stays juicy and flavorful, almost like a miniature cheeseburger bite with a crispy twist.

Ingredients You’ll Need

For about 12 cheeseburger wonton cups:

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 1–2 cloves garlic, minced (optional but recommended)
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste
  • 1 tbsp ketchup
  • 1 tsp mustard (yellow or Dijon)
  • 1–2 tbsp pickle relish or finely chopped pickles
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (or a cheese blend)
  • 12 wonton wrappers
  • Cooking spray or a little oil

Optional toppings:

  • Diced pickles for garnish
  • Sesame seeds
  • Extra ketchup or burger sauce for drizzling
  • Chopped tomatoes or lettuce (added after baking)

Step-by-Step Method

1. Preheat and prepare the muffin tin

Start by preheating your oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a standard muffin tin with cooking spray or oil. This helps the wonton wrappers crisp evenly without sticking.

2. Shape the wonton cups

Press one wonton wrapper into each muffin cup, gently folding the edges so it forms a small cup shape. Lightly spray the wrappers with oil so they bake up golden and crispy. Set the tray aside.

3. Cook the beef filling

Place a skillet over medium heat and add the ground beef. Break it apart as it cooks so it becomes finely crumbled.

Once the beef starts browning, add the chopped onion. Cook until the onion softens and the beef is fully browned.

Drain excess grease if needed to avoid soggy cups.
