Ingredients
For the Chicken Filling
- 2 cups cooked chicken, shredded or chopped
- 1 cup shredded Swiss cheese
- 4 ounces cream cheese, softened
- ½ cup mayonnaise or sour cream
- ¼ cup finely chopped onion
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped
- 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder
- ½ teaspoon onion powder
- ¼ teaspoon paprika
For the Crescent Ring
- 2 cans refrigerated crescent roll dough (8 ounces each)
- 1 tablespoon melted butter
- 1 tablespoon sesame seeds or poppy seeds, optional
- Extra shredded Swiss cheese for topping, optional
Optional Additions
- Cooked bacon pieces
- Spinach
- Mushrooms
- Diced bell peppers
- Green onions
- Broccoli florets
- A pinch of red pepper flakes for spice
Step 1: Prepare the Chicken Filling
Start by preparing the creamy chicken mixture.
Place the softened cream cheese in a large mixing bowl and stir until smooth.
Add the mayonnaise or sour cream and mix until combined. This creates a creamy base that keeps the chicken filling moist while baking.
Add the shredded chicken, Swiss cheese, chopped onion, minced garlic, parsley, Dijon mustard, salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and paprika.
Mix everything together until the chicken is evenly coated with the creamy mixture.
The filling should be thick enough to hold its shape but soft enough to spread easily.
Step 2: Prepare the Crescent Dough
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper.
Open the crescent roll dough cans and separate the dough into individual triangles.
Arrange the triangles in a circle on the baking sheet, with the wide ends overlapping in the center and the pointed ends facing outward.
The shape should look like a sun with a hole in the middle.
Press the overlapping dough pieces together gently so the ring stays connected while baking.
