Honey Garlic Glazed Pork Chops

Honey Garlic Glazed Pork Chops are the kind of comforting dinner that turns a handful of simple ingredients into something that tastes restaurant-worthy. The pork chops are seared until beautifully golden on the outside, then coated in a glossy sauce made with honey, fresh garlic, soy sauce, and a touch of acidity. The result is tender, juicy pork with a sweet, savory, garlicky glaze that clings to every bite.

This recipe is especially convenient for busy evenings because everything comes together in one skillet. Serve the chops with mashed potatoes, steamed rice, roasted vegetables, or a crisp green salad, and you have a satisfying meal without complicated preparation.

Why You’ll Love This Recipe

The magic of these pork chops is the contrast of flavors. Honey provides sweetness, soy sauce adds savory depth, garlic brings a bold aromatic flavor, and a little vinegar or lemon juice keeps the glaze from becoming overly sweet.

Searing the pork first is also important. It creates a flavorful browned crust while leaving delicious bits in the skillet that become part of the sauce. Once the glaze is added, it reduces into a thick, shiny coating that makes the pork incredibly flavorful.

Ingredients

For the Pork Chops

  • 4 boneless or bone-in pork chops, about ¾ to 1 inch thick
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • ½ teaspoon paprika
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder

For the Honey Garlic Glaze

  • ⅓ cup honey
  • 4 cloves garlic, finely minced
  • ¼ cup low-sodium soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar or fresh lemon juice
  • ½ teaspoon Dijon mustard
  • ¼ teaspoon red pepper flakes, optional
  • 2 tablespoons water

For Garnishing

  • Fresh chopped parsley or green onions
  • A small sprinkle of sesame seeds, optional

Step 1: Prepare the Pork Chops

Pat the pork chops thoroughly dry with paper towels. This small step makes a noticeable difference because dry meat browns much better than meat covered with surface moisture.

Season both sides with salt, black pepper, paprika, and garlic powder. Gently press the seasoning into the meat so it adheres well.

Let the pork sit at room temperature for about 10–15 minutes while you prepare the glaze. Avoid leaving raw pork at room temperature for an extended period.

Step 2: Make the Honey Garlic Sauce

In a small bowl, whisk together the honey, soy sauce, minced garlic, apple cider vinegar or lemon juice, Dijon mustard, red pepper flakes if using, and water.

The sauce should taste balanced: sweet from the honey, salty and savory from the soy sauce, aromatic from the garlic, and slightly tangy from the vinegar or lemon juice.

Set the mixture aside.

Step 3: Sear the Pork Chops

Place a large skillet over medium-high heat and add the olive oil.

Once the oil is hot, carefully place the pork chops in the skillet. Make sure they are not crowded; if necessary, cook them in batches.

Sear the pork for approximately 3–4 minutes on the first side, without constantly moving it. This allows a golden-brown crust to develop.

Flip the pork chops and cook for another 2–3 minutes.

Add the butter to the skillet during the final minute of searing. As it melts, spoon some of the butter over the pork chops.

At this point, the pork does not necessarily need to be completely cooked through because it will finish cooking in the glaze.
