Candied Bacon Crackers: Sweet, Salty, Crispy, and Irresistibly Easy
If you love the combination of salty bacon and sweet caramelized flavors, these Candied Bacon Crackers are the kind of snack that disappears almost as quickly as you put it on the table. Buttery crackers are topped with crisp bacon, brown sugar, and a touch of maple sweetness, then baked until the sugar melts into a glossy, caramel-like coating.
The magic happens in the oven. As the bacon cooks, its savory flavor blends with the brown sugar while the crackers become wonderfully crisp underneath. The finished bites have a delicious contrast of textures: crunchy cracker, chewy-crisp bacon, and a lightly caramelized topping.
They are perfect for holiday appetizer trays, game-day snacks, parties, brunch gatherings, or simply when you want something special without spending hours in the kitchen.
Ingredients
- 24–30 buttery round crackers
- 8 slices of bacon
- ½ cup packed light brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons pure maple syrup
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
- ½ teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
- ¼ teaspoon smoked paprika
- ¼ teaspoon garlic powder
- Pinch of cayenne pepper, optional
- 1 tablespoon finely chopped fresh parsley, optional, for garnish
Step 1: Prepare the Oven and Baking Sheet
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
Line a large rimmed baking sheet with aluminum foil or parchment paper. For easier cleanup, you can place a wire rack over the baking sheet, although baking the crackers directly on parchment also works.
Arrange the crackers in a single layer, leaving a little space between each one.
Step 2: Prepare the Bacon
Cut each bacon slice into pieces that are roughly the same size as the crackers.
The bacon should be small enough to sit neatly on top of each cracker without hanging too far over the edges. If your bacon slices are particularly thick, you may want to cut them into slightly smaller pieces.
For the best texture, use regular-cut bacon rather than extremely thick-cut bacon.
Step 3: Make the Sweet Bacon Glaze
Add the melted butter, brown sugar, maple syrup, black pepper, smoked paprika, and garlic powder to a small bowl.
Stir thoroughly until the ingredients form a thick, glossy mixture.
If you enjoy a little heat, add a small pinch of cayenne pepper. The spice won’t make the crackers overwhelmingly hot; instead, it adds a subtle contrast to the sweetness.
