🧀 3-Ingredient Pan-Fried Halloumi: Crispy, Golden Perfection in Minutes
If you’re looking for a quick, satisfying dish that feels gourmet but takes almost no effort, pan-fried halloumi is exactly what you need. With just three simple ingredients, you can create a salty, crispy, and slightly chewy cheese dish that works as a snack, appetizer, or even the star of a meal.
Halloumi is a unique cheese known for its high melting point, which means it doesn’t melt into a puddle when heated—instead, it forms a beautifully golden crust while staying soft inside.
đź›’ Ingredients (Only 3!)
- 1 block of halloumi cheese
- 1–2 tablespoons olive oil
- Freshly ground black pepper (optional but recommended)
🔪 Step-by-Step Method
1. Prepare the Halloumi
Remove the halloumi from its packaging and pat it dry with a paper towel. This step is important because excess moisture can prevent the cheese from crisping properly.
Slice the halloumi into pieces about 1 cm (½ inch) thick. You can cut them into rectangles, sticks, or even cubes depending on how you want to serve them.
2. Heat the Pan
Place a non-stick or cast-iron pan over medium heat. Let it warm up for about 1–2 minutes before adding anything.
Add the olive oil and allow it to heat until it shimmers slightly. This ensures the cheese will start frying immediately when it hits the pan.
3. Fry the Halloumi
Carefully place the slices of halloumi into the hot pan in a single layer. Make sure not to overcrowd the pan—give each piece space so it can crisp up nicely.
Let the cheese cook undisturbed for about 2–3 minutes on one side. You’re looking for a deep golden-brown crust.
