French Silk Pie Bars

Instructions

1. Prepare the Crust

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

  • In a mixing bowl, stir together the flour, melted butter, granulated sugar, and salt until a soft dough forms.

  • Press the dough evenly into a greased 9×9-inch baking pan to form the base.

  • Bake for 15 to 18 minutes, or until the edges are just golden.

  • Remove from the oven and let the crust cool completely before continuing.

2. Make the Chocolate Silk Filling

  • In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the chocolate chips in 30-second bursts, stirring after each, until smooth. Set aside to cool slightly.

  • In a large bowl, beat the softened butter and granulated sugar together until the mixture becomes light and fluffy—about 3 minutes.

  • Add the melted chocolate and vanilla extract to the mixture and beat until smooth.

  • One at a time, add the eggs, beating for a full 3 minutes after each addition. This step ensures the filling becomes silky and airy.

  • Spread the chocolate mixture evenly over the cooled crust.

3. Whip the Topping

  • In a clean bowl, whip the heavy cream with the powdered sugar until stiff peaks form.

  • Gently spread the whipped cream over the chocolate layer.

4. Chill and Serve

  • Cover the pan and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or until the bars are fully set.

  • Slice into squares and serve chilled for the ultimate indulgence.

Tips for Success

  • For extra elegance, top with chocolate shavings or a dusting of cocoa powder before serving.

  • Make sure each layer is fully cooled or whipped for best results—rushing leads to runny filling or melting cream.

These bars are rich, creamy, and downright irresistible. Think of them as bite-sized French silk pies—only easier to make and even easier to share (if you must!).
