Fried Cinnamon Roll Bombs: A Sweet, Crispy, Gooey Treat You Can Make at Home
Fried Cinnamon Roll Bombs are the kind of dessert that instantly feels special. They are golden and crispy on the outside, soft and fluffy inside, and filled with warm cinnamon sweetness. Each bite has the comforting flavor of a classic cinnamon roll, but in a smaller, richer, and more exciting form.
These little treats are perfect for breakfast, brunch, parties, holidays, or even a cozy weekend dessert. The best part is that they are easy to make and do not require complicated baking skills. Instead of baking traditional cinnamon rolls, the dough is filled, sealed, fried until golden, and finished with a sweet glaze or cinnamon sugar coating.
What Are Fried Cinnamon Roll Bombs?
Fried Cinnamon Roll Bombs are small dough balls filled with a cinnamon-sugar mixture. Some versions also include cream cheese, icing, or a soft buttery center. After frying, the outside becomes crisp and golden, while the inside stays warm, soft, and slightly gooey.
They are called “bombs” because they burst with flavor when you bite into them. The combination of fried dough, cinnamon, sugar, butter, and glaze makes them taste like mini cinnamon rolls with a donut-like texture.
Ingredients You Will Need
To make Fried Cinnamon Roll Bombs, you only need simple ingredients.
For the dough, you can use refrigerated biscuit dough, pizza dough, or homemade dough. Biscuit dough is the easiest option because it is already soft, portioned, and ready to use.
You will need:
- 1 can refrigerated biscuit dough or cinnamon roll dough
- 3 tablespoons butter, softened
- 1/3 cup brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Oil for frying
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon for coating
For the glaze:
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 2 to 3 tablespoons milk
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
Optional filling additions:
- Cream cheese cubes
- Chopped pecans
- Caramel sauce
- Chocolate chips
- Apple pie filling
Step 1: Prepare the Cinnamon Filling
Start by making the cinnamon filling. In a small bowl, mix the softened butter, brown sugar, cinnamon, and vanilla extract. Stir until the mixture becomes thick and smooth.
The filling should look like a soft cinnamon paste. This paste is what gives the bombs their rich cinnamon-roll flavor. If the butter is too cold, it will not mix well, so make sure it is softened before using.
Step 2: Prepare the Dough
Open the can of biscuit dough and separate each piece. If the biscuits are large, cut each one in half. Flatten each piece gently with your fingers or a rolling pin.
The dough should be wide enough to hold the filling but not too thin. If the dough is too thin, it may tear while frying. Try to keep the center slightly thicker than the edges.
Step 3: Add the Filling
Place a small spoonful of cinnamon filling in the center of each flattened dough piece. Do not overfill, because too much filling can leak out during frying.
For extra richness, you can add a small cube of cream cheese or a few chocolate chips on top of the cinnamon filling. This creates a creamy or melted center inside the bomb.
