Salami & Cream Cheese Cups: A Savory Bite-Sized Appetizer Recipe

Salami & Cream Cheese Cups are crispy, creamy, savory little appetizers made by baking thin slices of salami into cup shapes and filling them with a smooth cream cheese mixture. They are simple to prepare, easy to serve, and perfect for parties, holidays, game nights, picnics, or snack boards.

The best thing about this recipe is the contrast of textures. The salami becomes slightly crisp around the edges, while the filling stays soft, creamy, and flavorful. Each cup gives you a salty, cheesy, tangy bite with herbs and seasonings that make it taste more special than the ingredients suggest.

These cups look elegant, but they require very little effort. You only need a muffin tin, salami slices, cream cheese, and a few simple flavor additions.

Ingredients

For the Salami Cups

  • 24 thin round salami slices
  • Cooking spray or a little oil for greasing the muffin tin

For the Cream Cheese Filling

  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • ¼ cup sour cream or Greek yogurt
  • ½ cup shredded cheddar cheese or mozzarella
  • 2 tablespoons chopped green onions
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • ¼ teaspoon paprika
  • Salt, only if needed

Optional Add-Ins

  • Chopped olives
  • Diced jalapeños
  • Chopped pickles
  • Crispy bacon bits
  • Sun-dried tomatoes
  • Everything bagel seasoning
  • Chopped roasted red peppers
  • A small squeeze of lemon juice

Step 1: Prepare the Muffin Tin

Preheat your oven to 375°F / 190°C.

Lightly grease a mini muffin tin with cooking spray or a small amount of oil. This helps the salami cups release easily after baking.

A mini muffin tin works best because it creates small, bite-sized cups. You can use a regular muffin tin, but the salami slices may sit flatter and make wider cups.

Step 2: Shape the Salami Cups

Place one slice of salami into each muffin cup.

Gently press the center of the salami down so the edges rise up and form a cup shape. The salami may fold slightly around the sides, and that is fine. Those folds will become crispy and give the cups a rustic look.

Make sure the salami is not too thick. Thin slices shape better and crisp more evenly.

Step 3: Bake the Salami

Place the muffin tin in the preheated oven.

Bake the salami for 8 to 10 minutes, or until the edges begin to crisp and darken slightly.

The salami will shrink a little as it bakes, and the edges will curl upward. This is exactly what creates the cup shape.

Do not overbake, because salami can become too hard or overly salty if cooked too long.
