Cheesy Ham and Cheese Pull-Apart Ring: A Golden, Gooey Party Bread Recipe
Cheesy Ham and Cheese Pull-Apart Ring is a warm, savory appetizer made with soft bread dough, sliced ham, melted cheese, butter, and herbs, shaped into a beautiful ring and baked until golden brown. Each piece pulls away easily, making it perfect for parties, brunch, game nights, family gatherings, or holiday tables.
This recipe is simple, but it looks impressive. The outside becomes buttery and crisp, while the inside stays soft, cheesy, and filled with smoky ham. It is the kind of dish people gather around because it is easy to share and full of comforting flavor.
Why This Recipe Works
The pull-apart ring works because every piece is filled individually before baking. Instead of making one large sandwich, the dough is cut into portions, stuffed with ham and cheese, and arranged in a circular shape. As it bakes, the pieces rise together, the cheese melts, and the butter topping adds a golden garlic-herb finish.
The result is a soft, cheesy bread ring with crisp edges and a rich filling in every bite.
Ingredients
For the Ring
- 2 cans refrigerated biscuit dough or crescent roll dough
- 1 ½ cups cooked ham, chopped or thinly sliced
- 1 ½ cups shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- ½ cup cream cheese, softened
- 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard or honey mustard
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
- 1 tablespoon chopped parsley
For the Butter Topping
- 4 tablespoons melted butter
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- ½ teaspoon dried parsley
- ½ teaspoon Italian seasoning
- 2 tablespoons grated parmesan cheese
Optional Add-Ins
- Chopped green onions
- Cooked bacon bits
- Jalapeños
- Caramelized onions
- Swiss cheese
- Pepper jack cheese
- A little honey mustard for dipping
Step 1: Prepare the Baking Pan
Preheat your oven to 375°F / 190°C.
Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease a round baking tray. Place a small oven-safe bowl or ramekin in the center of the tray. This will help shape the bread into a ring.
The bowl also creates space in the center for dipping sauce after baking.
Step 2: Prepare the Filling
In a mixing bowl, combine the chopped ham, cheddar cheese, mozzarella cheese, softened cream cheese, mustard, garlic powder, black pepper, and parsley.
Mix everything until the filling is creamy and well combined.
The cream cheese helps hold the ham and shredded cheese together, so the filling stays inside the dough while baking. The mustard adds a mild tangy flavor that balances the richness of the cheese.
Step 3: Cut the Dough
Open the biscuit dough or crescent dough.
If using biscuit dough, cut each biscuit in half. If using crescent dough, separate it into triangles or cut it into squares.
Flatten each piece slightly with your fingers. Do not make it too thin, because the dough needs to hold the filling without tearing.
Step 4: Fill Each Dough Piece
Place a spoonful of the ham and cheese filling in the center of each dough piece.
Fold the dough around the filling and pinch the edges together to seal it. You should have small stuffed dough balls or folded pockets.
Make sure the seams are closed well so the cheese does not leak out too much during baking.
