Cheeseburger Biscuit Cups: A Detailed Step-by-Step Recipe for a Fun Family Meal

Cheeseburger Biscuit Cups are a warm, savory, and satisfying twist on the classic cheeseburger. Instead of using burger buns, this recipe uses soft biscuit dough pressed into muffin cups and filled with seasoned ground beef, melted cheese, and classic burger flavors. The result is a golden, bite-sized meal that is crispy around the edges, fluffy underneath, and rich in the center.

These biscuit cups are perfect for family dinners, party appetizers, lunch boxes, game-day snacks, or easy weeknight meals. They have all the flavor of a cheeseburger, but they are easier to serve, less messy to eat, and fun for both kids and adults.

Why Cheeseburger Biscuit Cups Are So Delicious

The secret to this recipe is the combination of textures. The biscuit dough becomes golden and tender as it bakes, while the beef filling stays juicy and flavorful. The cheese melts over the top and holds everything together, giving each cup a rich cheeseburger taste.

Unlike regular burgers, these cups are baked in a muffin tin, so every serving has its own little crust, filling, and cheesy topping. They are also easy to customize. You can make them classic, spicy, smoky, or loaded with toppings.

Ingredients

For the Biscuit Cups

  • 1 can refrigerated biscuit dough, usually 8 biscuits
  • Cooking spray or butter for greasing the muffin tin

For the Cheeseburger Filling

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 small onion, finely diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon mustard
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • ½ teaspoon paprika
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder

For the Topping

  • 1 to 1 ½ cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • ¼ cup diced pickles, optional
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds, optional
  • Chopped parsley or green onions, optional

Optional Serving Sauces

  • Ketchup
  • Mustard
  • Burger sauce
  • Ranch dressing
  • Barbecue sauce
  • Spicy mayo

Step 1: Prepare the Muffin Tin

Preheat your oven to 375°F / 190°C.

Lightly grease a muffin tin with cooking spray or butter. This helps the biscuit cups release easily after baking and prevents the edges from sticking.

A regular 12-cup muffin tin works best. If you only have a mini muffin tin, you can make smaller bite-sized versions, but you will need to reduce the baking time.

Step 2: Cook the Ground Beef

Place a skillet over medium heat and add the ground beef.

Break the beef apart with a spoon as it cooks. Stir often so it browns evenly and does not form large clumps.

Cook until the beef is no longer pink.

Once cooked, drain off excess grease. This is important because too much grease can make the biscuit cups soggy.

Step 3: Add Onion and Garlic

Add the finely diced onion to the skillet with the cooked beef.

Cook for 2 to 3 minutes until the onion becomes soft and slightly translucent.

Add the minced garlic and cook for another 30 seconds. Stir constantly so the garlic does not burn.

The onion gives the filling a mild sweetness, while the garlic adds a deeper savory flavor.

Step 4: Season the Cheeseburger Filling

Add ketchup, mustard, Worcestershire sauce, salt, black pepper, paprika, garlic powder, and onion powder to the beef mixture.

Stir everything together until the meat is well coated.

Let the filling cook for another 2 minutes so the flavors blend together.

The filling should be moist but not watery. If it looks too wet, cook it for another minute to reduce the liquid. If it looks too dry, add an extra teaspoon of ketchup or a small splash of water.
