Ham and Swiss Biscuit Sliders: A Warm, Cheesy, and Buttery Homemade Recipe

Ham and Swiss Biscuit Sliders are the perfect combination of soft, fluffy biscuits, savory ham, melted Swiss cheese, and a delicious buttery topping. These little sandwiches are easy to prepare, packed with flavor, and ideal for breakfast, brunch, parties, holidays, game days, or quick family meals.

Unlike traditional sliders made with dinner rolls, these sliders use tender biscuits that create a richer, more comforting texture. The buttery layers soak into the biscuits while baking, creating a golden top and a warm, cheesy center.

This recipe is simple enough for everyday cooking but impressive enough to serve at gatherings.

Why Ham and Swiss Biscuit Sliders Are So Delicious

The magic of these sliders comes from the balance of flavors and textures:

  • Soft biscuits provide a fluffy, buttery base.
  • Thinly sliced ham adds a smoky and salty flavor.
  • Swiss cheese melts into a creamy layer with a slightly nutty taste.
  • Butter topping adds richness and creates a golden, flavorful finish.

The result is a warm sandwich that feels homemade, satisfying, and comforting.

Ingredients

For the Sliders

  • 12 refrigerated biscuits (or homemade biscuits)
  • 1 pound thinly sliced ham
  • 12 slices Swiss cheese
  • 2 tablespoons mayonnaise or Dijon mustard, optional

For the Butter Topping

  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 teaspoon honey
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon poppy seeds, optional
  • 1 tablespoon chopped parsley, optional

Step 1: Prepare the Baking Dish

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

Lightly grease a baking dish or line it with parchment paper.

Choose a baking dish that allows the biscuits to fit closely together. When the biscuits touch, they bake into soft, pull-apart sliders that are easy to serve.

Step 2: Prepare the Biscuits

If using refrigerated biscuits, separate them carefully.

Slice each biscuit horizontally in half using a sharp knife. You will create a top and bottom layer for each slider.

If using homemade biscuits, make sure they are fully cooled before slicing so they do not crumble.

Place the bottom halves of the biscuits in the prepared baking dish.

Step 3: Add the Ham Layer

Spread mayonnaise or Dijon mustard over the biscuit bottoms if desired.

Add the sliced ham evenly across the biscuits.

Try not to stack the ham too thickly in one area. A thin, even layer allows every bite to have a balanced amount of meat.

For extra flavor, you can slightly warm the ham before assembling the sliders.

Step 4: Add the Swiss Cheese

Place slices of Swiss cheese over the ham.

Make sure the cheese covers most of the surface so every slider has melted cheese inside.

Swiss cheese is a classic choice because it melts smoothly and has a mild, nutty flavor that pairs beautifully with ham.

You can also combine Swiss with mozzarella for extra stretch or cheddar for a stronger flavor.
