1. Preheat and Prepare the Pan:
- Preheat your oven to 325°F (163°C).
- Grease and flour a 10-inch bundt pan or spray it with a non-stick baking spray to ensure the cake releases easily after baking.
2. Make the Cake Batter:
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, salt, baking powder, and baking soda until well combined.
- Add the softened butter, buttermilk, eggs, and vanilla extract to the dry ingredients.
- Using an electric mixer, beat the ingredients on low speed until combined, then increase to medium speed and mix for 3-4 minutes, or until the batter is smooth and creamy.
- Pour the batter evenly into the prepared bundt pan, smoothing the top with a spatula.
3. Bake the Cake:
- Place the bundt pan in the preheated oven and bake for 60-70 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Once the cake is done, remove it from the oven and let it cool in the pan for about 10 minutes.
4. Prepare the Butter Glaze:
- While the cake is cooling, prepare the butter glaze.
- In a small saucepan over medium heat, combine the butter, sugar, and water.
- Stir continuously until the butter is melted and the sugar is dissolved. The mixture should be smooth and slightly thickened.
- Remove the saucepan from heat and stir in the vanilla extract.
5. Glaze the Cake:
- Using a skewer or a long toothpick, poke holes all over the warm cake while it’s still in the pan. This will allow the glaze to soak into the cake.
- Slowly pour the warm butter glaze over the cake, making sure it seeps into the holes and covers the surface evenly.
- Let the cake sit in the pan for an additional 10-15 minutes, allowing the glaze to absorb fully.
6. Remove and Serve:
- After the glaze has absorbed, carefully invert the cake onto a serving plate.
- Slice and serve the cake warm or at room temperature. This cake is delicious on its own, but you can also serve it with a dollop of whipped cream or a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
