Step 1: Prepare the Bread

Lay the bread slices on a cutting board or clean surface.

Spread softened butter evenly on one side of each slice. Make sure the butter reaches all the edges, as this helps create a beautifully golden crust during cooking.

The buttered sides will face outward when assembling the sandwich.

Step 2: Add the Cheese

Turn the bread slices over so the unbuttered sides are facing up.

Place the cheese between the slices. If using shredded cheese, spread it evenly across the bread to ensure uniform melting.

Press the sandwich together gently.

Step 3: Preheat the Air Fryer

Preheat your air fryer to 370°F (188°C) for 2–3 minutes.

While some air fryers do not require preheating, doing so helps achieve a crispier exterior and more even cooking.
