Baked Brie and Jam Crescent Rolls: A Sweet, Buttery, and Creamy Appetizer

Baked Brie and Jam Crescent Rolls are a simple but elegant appetizer made with soft crescent dough, creamy brie cheese, and sweet fruit jam. When baked, the crescent rolls become golden and flaky, while the brie melts into a rich, buttery filling. The jam adds a fruity sweetness that balances beautifully with the cheese.

This recipe is perfect for holidays, brunch, parties, family gatherings, or a cozy snack. It looks fancy, but it is very easy to prepare. With only a few ingredients, you can make warm, bakery-style rolls that taste creamy, sweet, savory, and buttery all at once.

Why This Recipe Works

The beauty of this recipe comes from the contrast of flavors and textures. Crescent dough bakes into a soft, flaky shell. Brie cheese melts into a smooth creamy center. Jam adds sweetness and a little brightness. When everything is wrapped together and baked, each roll becomes a warm bite-sized pastry with a rich melted filling.

Brie has a mild, buttery flavor, so it pairs well with many jams. Raspberry, apricot, fig, strawberry, cranberry, and blackberry jam all work beautifully.

Ingredients

  • 1 can refrigerated crescent roll dough
  • 6 to 8 ounces brie cheese
  • ⅓ cup fruit jam, such as raspberry, apricot, fig, cranberry, or strawberry
  • 1 egg, beaten, for egg wash
  • 1 tablespoon honey, optional
  • 1 tablespoon melted butter, optional
  • 1 teaspoon fresh rosemary or thyme, optional
  • 2 tablespoons chopped pecans or walnuts, optional
  • Pinch of flaky salt, optional

Step 1: Prepare the Oven and Baking Tray

Preheat the oven to 375°F / 190°C.

Line a baking tray with parchment paper. This helps prevent the rolls from sticking, especially if some cheese or jam leaks out while baking.

Lightly grease the parchment paper if desired.

Step 2: Prepare the Brie Cheese

Remove the brie from the refrigerator and cut it into small pieces.

You can leave the rind on because it is edible and softens as it bakes. However, if you prefer a smoother filling, you can trim some of the rind away.

Cut the brie into pieces small enough to fit inside each crescent roll. Avoid using pieces that are too large because the cheese may overflow during baking.

Step 3: Open and Separate the Crescent Dough

Open the crescent roll dough and gently unroll it on a clean surface.

Separate the dough into triangles along the perforated lines.

If the dough feels too soft or sticky, place it in the refrigerator for a few minutes. Chilled dough is easier to handle and roll neatly.

Step 4: Add the Brie and Jam

Place one piece of brie near the wide end of each crescent triangle.

Spoon about ½ to 1 teaspoon of jam over the brie. Do not add too much jam, because it can leak out during baking.

For extra flavor, you can add a few chopped pecans or walnuts on top of the jam. Nuts add crunch and make the rolls taste more festive.

A tiny pinch of rosemary or thyme can also be added for a more savory, elegant flavor.

Step 5: Roll the Crescent Rolls

Starting from the wide end of the triangle, gently roll the dough over the brie and jam.

Continue rolling toward the pointed end until the filling is enclosed.

Pinch the sides lightly to seal the roll. This helps keep the melted cheese and jam inside.

Place each roll on the prepared baking tray with the pointed end facing down. This prevents the roll from opening while baking.

Step 6: Brush with Egg Wash

Brush the tops of the crescent rolls with beaten egg.

The egg wash gives the rolls a glossy golden color after baking.

For a richer flavor, you can also brush them lightly with melted butter before or after baking.
