Banana Pudding Lush: A Creamy Layered No-Bake Dessert Recipe

Banana Pudding Lush is a rich, cool, and creamy layered dessert inspired by classic banana pudding. It has a buttery cookie crust, a smooth cream cheese layer, banana pudding, fresh banana slices, whipped topping, and crushed vanilla wafers. Every spoonful is soft, sweet, creamy, and full of banana flavor.

This dessert is perfect for family gatherings, potlucks, holidays, summer parties, or anytime you want an easy make-ahead treat. It looks beautiful in layers, tastes comforting, and does not require complicated baking.

What Is Banana Pudding Lush?

A “lush” dessert is usually a chilled layered dessert made with a crust, creamy filling, pudding, and whipped topping. Banana Pudding Lush takes the flavors of traditional banana pudding and turns them into a sliceable dessert.

Instead of serving it loosely in a bowl, this version is made in a baking dish and chilled until the layers set. The result is creamy like pudding, rich like cheesecake, and light like whipped cream.

Ingredients

For the Crust

  • 2 cups crushed vanilla wafers or graham cracker crumbs
  • ½ cup melted butter
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar

For the Cream Cheese Layer

  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup whipped topping or whipped cream

For the Banana Pudding Layer

  • 2 boxes instant banana pudding mix, 3.4 oz each
  • 3 cups cold milk
  • 1 cup whipped topping

For the Banana Layer

  • 3 to 4 ripe bananas, sliced
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice, optional

For the Topping

  • 2 cups whipped topping
  • ½ cup crushed vanilla wafers
  • Banana slices for garnish, optional

Step 1: Prepare the Baking Dish

Use a 9×13 inch baking dish for this recipe.

Lightly grease the bottom of the dish or line it with parchment paper if you want easier serving. Since this is a chilled dessert, a glass dish works very well because the layers can be seen from the side.

Step 2: Make the Cookie Crust

Place the vanilla wafers or graham crackers in a food processor and crush them into fine crumbs. If you do not have a food processor, place the cookies in a sealed bag and crush them with a rolling pin.

Pour the crumbs into a bowl. Add the melted butter and sugar. Mix until the crumbs look like wet sand.

Transfer the mixture to the baking dish and press it firmly into an even layer. Use the bottom of a cup or measuring glass to pack the crust tightly.

A firm crust helps the dessert hold its shape when sliced.

Place the crust in the refrigerator for 15 to 20 minutes while preparing the next layer.

Step 3: Make the Cream Cheese Layer

In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened cream cheese until smooth.

Add the powdered sugar and vanilla extract. Beat again until the mixture becomes creamy and lump-free.

Gently fold in the whipped topping. This makes the cream cheese layer lighter and easier to spread.

The texture should be smooth, thick, and fluffy.

Step 4: Spread the Cream Cheese Layer

Remove the chilled crust from the refrigerator.

Spoon the cream cheese mixture over the crust and spread it carefully with a spatula.

Try to spread it all the way to the edges. This creates a barrier between the crust and pudding, helping the crust stay firm instead of becoming too soft.

Place the dish back in the refrigerator while you prepare the pudding.

Step 5: Prepare the Banana Pudding

In a large bowl, add the instant banana pudding mix and cold milk.

Whisk for about 2 minutes until the pudding begins to thicken.

Let it sit for 3 to 5 minutes so it becomes thicker. Then fold in 1 cup of whipped topping.

This makes the pudding layer creamier, softer, and more mousse-like.
