Beef and Mushroom Crescent Cups
A savory, flaky appetizer packed with rich flavor and perfect for any occasion
Beef and Mushroom Crescent Cups are the kind of recipe that feels fancy but is surprisingly easy to make. With buttery crescent dough forming a crisp shell and a juicy, seasoned filling of beef and mushrooms, these bite-sized treats are perfect for parties, snacks, or even a quick dinner option.
Let’s walk through the process step by step so you can make them perfectly every time.
Ingredients
For the cups:
- 1 can refrigerated crescent roll dough
- 250g (½ lb) ground beef
- 1 cup finely chopped mushrooms
- ½ small onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- ½ cup shredded cheese (cheddar, mozzarella, or a mix)
- 2 tablespoons cream cheese (optional, for extra creaminess)
- 1 tablespoon olive oil or butter
- Salt and pepper to taste
- ½ teaspoon paprika (optional)
- ½ teaspoon dried thyme or Italian seasoning
Step 1: Prepare the Filling
Start by heating a pan over medium heat and adding the olive oil or butter. Once hot, sauté the chopped onions for about 2–3 minutes until they become soft and slightly translucent.
Add the minced garlic and cook for another 30 seconds until fragrant.
Now, add the ground beef. Break it apart with a spatula and cook until it’s browned and no longer pink.
Step 2: Add Mushrooms and Seasoning
Once the beef is cooked, stir in the chopped mushrooms. Mushrooms release water, so let them cook for about 5–7 minutes until most of the moisture evaporates.
Season the mixture with:
- Salt and pepper
- Paprika
- Dried herbs
If you want a creamier filling, mix in the cream cheese at this stage and stir until fully melted and combined.
Remove the mixture from heat and let it cool slightly.
