Brown Sugar Bacon Crackers

There’s something irresistible about the combination of salty bacon, buttery crackers, and caramelized brown sugar. Brown Sugar Bacon Crackers are a simple, crowd-pleasing snack that turns a handful of pantry staples into a crisp, sweet-and-savory treat. As they bake, the brown sugar melts into the bacon fat and butter, creating a glossy caramelized coating that clings to every cracker.

These crackers are perfect for holiday gatherings, game-day snacks, brunch spreads, parties, or simply when you want something crunchy and indulgent. They require only a few ingredients and very little preparation, but the finished result tastes like you spent much more time in the kitchen.

Why You’ll Love These Brown Sugar Bacon Crackers

The magic is in the contrast of flavors and textures. The crackers provide a delicate crunch, the bacon becomes crisp and savory, and the brown sugar develops into a rich, caramel-like coating. A small amount of black pepper or cayenne can also add just enough warmth to balance the sweetness.

Another great thing about this recipe is how easy it is to prepare. You don’t need complicated equipment or special cooking techniques. Just arrange the crackers, add the bacon and topping, and let the oven do the work.

Ingredients

For approximately 30–36 crackers, you’ll need:

  • 1 sleeve buttery crackers, such as club-style crackers
  • 8–10 slices bacon
  • ¾ cup packed light brown sugar
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • ½ teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • ¼ teaspoon cayenne pepper, optional
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder, optional
  • A small pinch of salt, optional

Tip: Regular-cut bacon works especially well because it cooks evenly while still providing enough fat to help create the caramelized topping.

How to Make Brown Sugar Bacon Crackers

Step 1: Prepare the Oven

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

Line a large rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper or aluminum foil. For easier cleanup, you can lightly grease the surface or place parchment over the foil.

Arrange the crackers in a single layer on the baking sheet, leaving a little space between them. Make sure they are positioned flat so the topping stays in place while baking.

Step 2: Prepare the Bacon

Cut the bacon slices into pieces that are approximately the same size as the crackers.

You can use kitchen scissors to make this step quick and easy. Cutting the bacon into smaller pieces also helps distribute the savory flavor evenly across each cracker.

For particularly thick bacon, you can partially cook it first for a few minutes until some of the excess fat renders out, but it should still remain flexible enough to finish cooking in the oven.
