Cinnabon Cinnamon Roll Cake

 

 

INSTRUCTIONS:

1. Preheat the Oven:

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish or line it with parchment paper.

2. Prepare the Cake Batter:

  • In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, salt, sugar, and baking powder.
  • In a separate bowl, combine the milk, eggs, vanilla extract, and melted butter. Stir until well combined.
  • Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, mixing until just combined. Be careful not to overmix; the batter should be smooth and slightly thick.

3. Pour the Batter:

  • Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish, spreading it evenly with a spatula.

4. Make the Cinnamon Swirl:

  • In a medium bowl, mix together the softened butter, brown sugar, flour, and ground cinnamon until smooth and well combined.
  • Drop spoonfuls of the cinnamon mixture evenly over the cake batter.
  • Use a knife to swirl the cinnamon mixture through the cake batter, creating a marbled effect.

5. Bake the Cake:

  • Place the cake in the preheated oven and bake for 28-32 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean or with a few moist crumbs. The cake should be golden brown and spring back when lightly touched.

6. Prepare the Glaze:

  • While the cake is baking, prepare the glaze by whisking together the powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract in a medium bowl until smooth.
  • Adjust the consistency by adding more powdered sugar (for a thicker glaze) or more milk (for a thinner glaze) as needed.

7. Glaze the Cake:

  • Once the cake is done baking, remove it from the oven and allow it to cool for about 10 minutes.
  • While the cake is still warm, drizzle the glaze evenly over the top, allowing it to soak into the cake and create that signature Cinnabon sweetness.

8. Serve:

  • Slice the cake into squares and serve warm. Enjoy the gooey, cinnamon-swirled goodness with a cup of coffee or tea.

  • Swirling Technique: For the perfect cinnamon swirl, use a knife or toothpick to gently drag through the batter. Be sure to reach down into the batter for a deep, even swirl.
  • Butter Quality: Using high-quality, unsalted butter will give the cake a rich flavor, especially in the cinnamon swirl.
  • Glaze Consistency: The glaze should be thick enough to create a beautiful, glossy finish but thin enough to soak into the cake. Adjust the consistency to your liking.
  • Make Ahead: This cake can be made a day ahead and stored at room temperature. Just cover it tightly with plastic wrap or foil. Reheat slices in the microwave for a few seconds to enjoy that fresh-from-the-oven taste.
