Cordon Bleu Crescent Ring: A Golden, Cheesy Chicken and Ham Dinner Recipe

Cordon Bleu Crescent Ring is a beautiful twist on the classic French-inspired Chicken Cordon Bleu. Instead of preparing individual stuffed chicken breasts, this version uses soft, flaky crescent dough wrapped around a creamy filling of chicken, ham, and melted cheese. The result is a golden, ring-shaped dish that looks impressive but is surprisingly easy to prepare.

This recipe is perfect for family dinners, brunches, holiday gatherings, parties, or when you want a comforting meal that everyone will enjoy. Each slice contains buttery pastry, tender chicken, savory ham, and gooey cheese with a creamy sauce that brings everything together.

What Makes Cordon Bleu Crescent Ring Special?

Traditional Chicken Cordon Bleu combines chicken, ham, and Swiss cheese in a crispy coating. This crescent ring keeps the same delicious flavor combination but makes it simpler by using refrigerated crescent dough.

The crescent dough creates a light and flaky exterior, while the filling stays creamy and rich inside. The ring shape also makes it perfect for sharing because guests can easily pull apart slices.

Ingredients

For the Crescent Ring

  • 2 tubes refrigerated crescent roll dough
  • 2 cups cooked chicken, shredded or diced
  • 1 cup cooked ham, diced
  • 1 ½ cups shredded Swiss cheese
  • ½ cup shredded mozzarella cheese, optional
  • 4 oz cream cheese, softened
  • ¼ cup mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • ¼ teaspoon salt (adjust depending on ham’s saltiness)
  • 1 tablespoon chopped parsley, optional

For the Top

  • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
  • 1 tablespoon melted butter
  • 1 teaspoon sesame seeds or dried herbs, optional

Step 1: Prepare the Filling

Begin by preparing the creamy chicken and ham mixture.

In a large mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese and mayonnaise. Stir until smooth and creamy.

Add the Dijon mustard, garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, and salt. Mix well.

The Dijon mustard is important because it adds a slightly tangy flavor that balances the richness of the cheese and cream.

Add the shredded chicken, diced ham, Swiss cheese, and mozzarella. Stir gently until all ingredients are evenly combined.

The filling should be creamy and thick enough to sit on the dough without spreading too much.

Step 2: Prepare the Crescent Dough

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

Line a large baking sheet or pizza pan with parchment paper.

Open the crescent roll tubes carefully and separate the dough into triangles.

Arrange the crescent triangles in a circle on the baking sheet, with the wide ends overlapping in the center and the pointed ends facing outward.

The shape should look like a sun with rays coming out from the middle.

Make sure the overlapping center is wide enough to hold the filling.
