Crispy Roasted Cauliflower: A Simple and Flavorful Oven-Baked Delight 🥦✨

Crispy roasted cauliflower is one of the easiest and most satisfying vegetable dishes you can prepare at home. With just a few ingredients and the right roasting technique, cauliflower transforms from a mild, simple vegetable into a golden, crunchy, and deeply flavorful side dish. The high heat of the oven caramelizes the natural sugars in the cauliflower, creating crisp edges and a tender center that pairs beautifully with many meals.

This recipe is perfect for weeknight dinners, healthy meal prep, or even as a snack. Whether served alongside grilled meats, added to grain bowls, or enjoyed on its own with a dipping sauce, roasted cauliflower offers a delicious way to enjoy vegetables.

Below is a detailed step-by-step guide to making perfectly crispy roasted cauliflower.

Ingredients

To prepare crispy roasted cauliflower, you will need:

  • 1 large head of cauliflower
  • 2 to 3 tablespoons olive oil
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon paprika (optional, for extra flavor)
  • ¼ teaspoon onion powder (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon grated Parmesan cheese (optional)
  • Fresh parsley or lemon juice for garnish (optional)

Step 1: Preheat the Oven

Start by preheating your oven to 425°F (220°C). A hot oven is key to achieving crispy edges. When the oven is fully heated before the cauliflower goes in, it helps the vegetables roast rather than steam.

Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it with oil to prevent sticking.

Step 2: Prepare the Cauliflower

Remove the outer leaves from the cauliflower head and cut off the thick stem at the base.

Next, break or cut the cauliflower into bite-sized florets. Try to keep the pieces relatively similar in size so they cook evenly. If some pieces are much larger than others, the smaller ones may burn before the larger ones are fully roasted.

Wash the florets under cool water and dry them thoroughly with a clean kitchen towel or paper towels. Dry cauliflower roasts better and becomes crispier.

Step 3: Season the Cauliflower

Place the cauliflower florets into a large mixing bowl.

Drizzle the olive oil over the florets and toss well until every piece is lightly coated. The oil helps the seasoning stick and allows the cauliflower to crisp in the oven.

Sprinkle in the:

  • salt
  • black pepper
  • garlic powder
  • paprika
  • onion powder

Toss everything together until the seasoning is evenly distributed.
