Crockpot Amish Noodles is one of those quietly comforting, old-fashioned Midwestern-style meals that leans into simplicity, richness, and slow-cooked flavor. It’s not flashy food—it’s practical, filling, and deeply satisfying. Think tender egg noodles coated in a creamy, savory broth with shredded meat that melts into every bite.

What makes this dish especially popular is how effortlessly it comes together in a slow cooker. Once everything is in the pot, the crockpot does most of the work, slowly building flavor while you go about your day.

What Crockpot Amish Noodles Are

At its core, Crockpot Amish Noodles is a creamy noodle dish typically made with:

  • Egg noodles
  • A protein (commonly chicken, beef, or turkey)
  • Broth (chicken or beef stock)
  • Creamy elements like cream of chicken soup or cream of mushroom soup
  • Butter and simple seasonings

The result is a thick, rich, almost stew-like noodle dish that’s hearty enough to be a full meal.

Ingredients You’ll Need

Here’s a classic version that serves about 6–8 people:

  • 2–3 boneless chicken breasts (or 1.5 lbs shredded cooked chicken)
  • 6 cups chicken broth
  • 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of chicken soup
  • 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of mushroom soup (optional but adds depth)
  • 1/2 cup butter (sliced)
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 12–16 oz wide egg noodles
  • Salt to taste

Optional additions:

  • 1 cup diced carrots or celery (for extra texture)
  • 1 teaspoon thyme for an earthy note
  • A splash of heavy cream for extra richness at the end

Step-by-Step Method

Step 1: Prepare the Slow Cooker Base

Place the raw chicken breasts at the bottom of the crockpot. This allows them to slowly absorb the broth and seasonings as they cook.

Pour in the chicken broth, then add both cans of condensed soup. Stir gently around the chicken so the soups begin to dissolve into the liquid.

Step 2: Season and Add Butter

Sprinkle in garlic powder, onion powder, and black pepper. Add salt lightly—you can adjust later once everything has cooked.

Place slices of butter on top of the mixture. As it melts, it will create a rich, silky base that gives Amish noodles their signature comfort-food flavor.

Step 3: Slow Cook Until Tender

Cover the crockpot and cook:

  • LOW for 6–7 hours, or
  • HIGH for 3–4 hours

The chicken should become tender enough to shred easily with a fork.
