Crockpot Chicken and Noodles: A Cozy, Creamy One-Pot Comfort Food
There are few meals as comforting as a warm bowl of Crockpot Chicken and Noodles. Tender chicken, hearty noodles, and a rich, savory broth come together slowly in the crockpot, creating a satisfying dinner with very little hands-on work.
This recipe is especially useful on busy days when you want something homemade without spending hours standing over the stove. The slow cooker does most of the work, gently cooking the chicken until tender before the noodles are added toward the end.

Ingredients
For approximately 6 servings, you’ll need:
- 1 ½ pounds boneless, skinless chicken breasts or thighs
- 4 cups chicken broth
- 1 can (10.5 ounces) condensed cream of chicken soup
- 1 small onion, finely diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon dried parsley
- ½ teaspoon dried thyme
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
- ½ teaspoon salt, or to taste
- ½ teaspoon poultry seasoning
- 3 tablespoons butter
- 12 ounces frozen egg noodles
- ½ cup milk or heavy cream, optional
- 1 cup frozen peas or mixed vegetables, optional
Choosing the Right Chicken
Both chicken breasts and thighs work well. Chicken breasts produce a leaner result, while boneless chicken thighs tend to remain especially juicy and flavorful during slow cooking.
If using particularly large chicken breasts, consider cutting them into smaller pieces so they cook more evenly.
How to Make Crockpot Chicken and Noodles
Step 1: Prepare the Crockpot
Lightly coat the inside of your slow cooker with cooking spray or a small amount of butter. This isn’t absolutely necessary, but it can make cleanup easier.
Place the chicken in an even layer across the bottom of the crockpot.
Step 2: Build the Flavorful Base
Add the diced onion and minced garlic around and over the chicken.
Pour the chicken broth into the crockpot, followed by the cream of chicken soup.
Add the dried parsley, thyme, poultry seasoning, black pepper, and salt.
Finally, place the butter on top.
Don’t worry if the cream soup doesn’t completely blend into the broth at this stage. It will become incorporated as everything cooks.
Step 3: Slow Cook the Chicken
Cover the crockpot with its lid and cook:
- LOW: approximately 5–6 hours
- HIGH: approximately 2½–3½ hours
Cooking times can vary depending on the slow cooker and the size of the chicken pieces. The chicken should be fully cooked and tender before moving on to the next step.
Avoid repeatedly removing the lid because each opening releases heat and can extend the cooking time.
