Ham and Swiss Biscuit Sliders: A Warm, Cheesy, and Easy Homemade Recipe

Ham and Swiss Biscuit Sliders are the perfect combination of soft, buttery biscuits, savory ham, melted Swiss cheese, and a flavorful golden topping. These small sandwiches are simple to prepare but taste like something you would find at a bakery or café.

They are ideal for breakfast, brunch, lunch, game-day snacks, parties, holiday gatherings, or quick family meals. The warm biscuits become slightly crisp on the outside while staying fluffy inside, and the melted Swiss cheese creates a creamy layer that pairs beautifully with the salty ham.

Unlike traditional bread sliders, this recipe uses biscuits as the base, giving the sandwiches a richer, more comforting texture.

Why You’ll Love These Ham and Swiss Biscuit Sliders

These sliders are popular because they are:

  • Quick to prepare – ready in less than an hour.
  • Perfect for crowds – easy to make in large batches.
  • Great for meal prep – they reheat well.
  • Customizable – you can add different meats, cheeses, or sauces.
  • Comforting and satisfying – warm biscuits, melted cheese, and savory ham make an irresistible combination.

The secret to their delicious flavor is the buttery glaze brushed over the biscuits before baking. The butter melts into the bread, while garlic, herbs, and seasonings create a rich, savory finish.

Ingredients

For the Sliders

  • 12 soft biscuit rolls (homemade or refrigerated biscuits)
  • 12 slices ham (thinly sliced)
  • 12 slices Swiss cheese
  • 2 tablespoons mayonnaise or Dijon mustard (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon honey mustard (optional)

For the Butter Glaze

  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon dried parsley
  • ½ teaspoon poppy seeds (optional)
  • A pinch of salt
  • A pinch of black pepper

Step 1: Prepare the Oven and Baking Dish

Preheat your oven to:

350°F (175°C)

Lightly grease a baking dish large enough to hold all the sliders tightly together.

A 9×13-inch baking dish works well because the biscuits stay close together, allowing the cheese to melt evenly and keeping the sandwiches moist.

Step 2: Prepare the Biscuit Base

If using packaged biscuit rolls, separate them carefully.

If using homemade biscuits, bake them according to your recipe first, then allow them to cool slightly before assembling.

Slice each biscuit horizontally through the middle, creating a top and bottom half.

Try to keep the halves together because they will be placed back together after adding the filling.

Step 3: Add the Sauce Layer

Spread a thin layer of mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, or honey mustard on the inside of the biscuit bottoms.

This step is optional, but it adds moisture and extra flavor.

The creamy sauce balances the saltiness of the ham and enhances the flavor of the Swiss cheese.

Step 4: Add the Ham

Place slices of ham evenly over the biscuit bottoms.

Fold the ham slices slightly instead of laying them completely flat. This creates a fuller texture and allows the ham to warm evenly during baking.

You can use:

  • Honey ham for a sweeter flavor
  • Smoked ham for a deeper taste
  • Black forest ham for a more traditional deli flavor
