Meat and Potato Casserole

 

Instructions

1. Preheat Oven & Cook Meat

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).

  • In a skillet over medium-high heat, cook ground beef with chopped onion until beef is browned and onions are soft. Drain excess grease.

2. Prepare the Creamy Sauce

  • In a mixing bowl, combine cream of mushroom soup, heavy cream, beef broth, rosemary, garlic powder, salt, and pepper.

3. Layer the Casserole

  • Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.

  • Layer half of the potato slices on the bottom.

  • Spread ⅓ of the soup mixture over the potatoes, then top with half of the cooked beef mixture.

  • Repeat with another layer of potatoes, ⅓ of the soup, and the remaining beef.

  • Spread the remaining soup mixture on top and finish with shredded cheese.

4. Bake

  • Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 1 hour 30 minutes, until potatoes are tender and cheese is melted and bubbly.

5. Serve & Enjoy

  • Let the casserole rest for a few minutes before serving. Slice and enjoy a hearty, comforting meal!


Tips & Variations

  • Add a layer of sautéed mushrooms or bell peppers for extra flavor.

  • Use cheddar, mozzarella, or a blend of cheeses for a richer topping.

  • For a quicker version, par-cook the potatoes in the microwave for 5–7 minutes before layering.
