Step 1: Prepare the Ham

Start with fully cooked ham. Leftover holiday ham works perfectly, but you can also use store-bought cooked ham slices or a ham steak.

Cut the ham into small pieces. For a traditional texture, chop it finely with a knife. You can also use a food processor, but pulse gently. Do not blend it into a paste. The goal is a fine, crumbly texture that still has a little bite.

Place the chopped ham into a large mixing bowl.

Step 2: Chop the Vegetables

Finely chop the celery and onion. These ingredients add freshness and crunch to the salad. Make sure the pieces are small so they mix evenly with the ham.
