One-Pan Chicken with Buttered Noodles: A Simple, Comforting Classic

One-pan meals are popular for a reason: they save time, reduce cleanup, and still deliver rich, satisfying flavor. One-Pan Chicken with Buttered Noodles is a perfect example of comfort food made easy—tender chicken, silky noodles, and a buttery, savory sauce all cooked in a single pan.

This dish feels like something you’d get at a cozy home kitchen: simple ingredients, but layered flavor.

🛒 Ingredients (Serves 3–4)

  • 2–3 chicken breasts (or thighs for more flavor)
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil or butter
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 3 cups chicken broth (or stock)
  • 250–300g egg noodles (or any quick-cooking pasta)
  • 2 tablespoons butter (for finishing)
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 1 teaspoon paprika (optional, for depth)
  • ½ teaspoon dried thyme or Italian seasoning (optional)
  • Fresh parsley (optional garnish)
  • Optional: a splash of cream or grated Parmesan for extra richness

🍳 Step-by-Step Method

1. Prepare and Season the Chicken

Start by patting the chicken dry with paper towels. This helps it brown properly.

Season both sides generously with:

  • Salt
  • Black pepper
  • Paprika (optional but recommended)

If you have time, let it sit for 10–15 minutes so the seasoning sticks better.

2. Sear the Chicken

Heat a large deep skillet or pan over medium-high heat.

Add:

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil or butter

Once hot, place the chicken in the pan.

Cook for about:

  • 4–5 minutes per side, until golden brown

You don’t need to fully cook it yet—just develop flavor and color.

Remove the chicken and set aside.

3. Build the Flavor Base

In the same pan (don’t clean it—that’s where flavor lives), add:

  • Minced garlic

Sauté for about 30 seconds until fragrant.

Then pour in:

  • Chicken broth

Use a spoon to scrape up the browned bits from the bottom of the pan. This step is key—it creates the deep savory flavor of the sauce.
