Oven-Baked 4-Ingredient Creamy Mushroom Beef Bake
Oven-Baked 4-Ingredient Creamy Mushroom Beef Bake is a simple, comforting casserole-style dinner made with only a few basic ingredients. It is rich, savory, creamy, and filling, making it perfect for busy weeknights, family meals, or days when you want something warm and satisfying without spending too much time in the kitchen.
This recipe uses ground beef, cream of mushroom soup, cooked pasta, and shredded cheese. The beef gives the dish a hearty flavor, the mushroom soup creates a creamy sauce, the pasta makes it filling, and the cheese melts into a golden topping. With just four main ingredients, you can create a cozy baked dish that tastes homemade and comforting.
Ingredients
- 1 pound ground beef
- 2 cans cream of mushroom soup
- 3 cups cooked pasta, such as egg noodles, penne, or rotini
- 1 ½ cups shredded cheddar cheese
Optional pantry seasonings: salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, or parsley.
Step 1: Prepare the Oven and Baking Dish
Preheat your oven to 375°F / 190°C.
Lightly grease a medium baking dish with butter, oil, or cooking spray. A 9×9 inch dish works well for a thicker bake, while a 9×13 inch dish gives a slightly thinner casserole.
Greasing the dish helps prevent the creamy sauce and cheese from sticking to the bottom and sides.
Step 2: Cook the Pasta
Bring a pot of salted water to a boil.
Add the pasta and cook it until just al dente. This means the pasta should be tender but still slightly firm. Avoid overcooking it because it will continue to soften in the oven.
Drain the pasta well and set it aside.
Egg noodles give the dish a soft, classic casserole texture. Penne or rotini work well because they hold the creamy mushroom sauce nicely.
