How to Make Philly Cheesesteak Casserole
Step 1: Prepare the Oven and Baking Dish
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
Lightly grease a 9-by-13-inch baking dish and set it aside. Preparing the dish first makes it easier to transfer the finished filling once everything is cooked.
Step 2: Brown the Ground Beef
Place a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the ground beef and cook for about 6–8 minutes, breaking it apart with a wooden spoon as it cooks.
Continue cooking until the beef is browned and no longer pink. If there is a large amount of excess grease in the skillet, carefully drain it.
Return the skillet to the stove.
Step 3: Cook the Vegetables
Add the sliced onion, green bell pepper, red bell pepper, and mushrooms to the skillet.
Cook everything together for approximately 7–10 minutes, stirring occasionally. The vegetables should become tender and the onions should begin to turn lightly golden.
If the skillet seems dry, add a small amount of olive oil.
