Ritz Cracker Party Sandwiches: A Delicious Bite-Sized Appetizer Recipe

Ritz Cracker Party Sandwiches are a simple yet irresistible snack made with buttery crackers, flavorful fillings, melted cheese, and a warm baked topping. These little sandwiches are crispy on the outside, creamy and savory inside, and perfect for parties, holidays, game nights, family gatherings, or quick snacks.

The beauty of this recipe is how easy it is to prepare. With just a few ingredients, ordinary crackers become a delicious appetizer that tastes like a mini sandwich. The buttery Ritz crackers become slightly toasted in the oven, while the filling becomes warm, cheesy, and full of flavor.

Why Ritz Cracker Party Sandwiches Are So Popular

These bite-sized sandwiches are loved because they combine different textures and flavors in one small snack:

  • Buttery Ritz crackers provide a crisp, golden base.
  • Ham and cheese filling adds a savory, satisfying center.
  • Melted cheese creates a warm and creamy texture.
  • Seasoned butter topping gives the crackers a rich, flavorful finish.

They are also easy to customize. You can make them with different meats, cheeses, spreads, or seasonings depending on your taste.

Ingredients

For the Sandwiches

  • 2 sleeves Ritz crackers (about 48 crackers)
  • ½ pound thinly sliced ham
  • 8 slices Swiss cheese, cheddar cheese, or your favorite cheese
  • ½ cup cream cheese, softened (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard (optional)

For the Butter Topping

  • ½ cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon poppy seeds, optional
  • 1 tablespoon chopped parsley, optional

Step 1: Prepare the Baking Tray

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

Line a baking sheet or baking dish with parchment paper or lightly grease it.

Preparing the tray first makes cleanup easier and prevents the crackers from sticking after baking.

Step 2: Separate the Ritz Crackers

Carefully separate the crackers and place half of them flat side down on the baking tray.

These crackers will become the bottom layer of your sandwiches.

Try to keep the crackers whole because broken crackers can make assembling the sandwiches more difficult.

Step 3: Prepare the Filling

If using cream cheese, spread a thin layer over each bottom cracker.

The cream cheese helps hold the filling together and adds a smooth, creamy texture.

Next, add a small piece of ham on top of each cracker.

Fold the ham slightly if needed so it fits neatly without hanging over the edges.
