Salami, Pickle & Cream Cheese Roll-Ups: A Simple Step-by-Step Party Appetizer

Salami, Pickle & Cream Cheese Roll-Ups are a quick, savory, and satisfying appetizer made with thin slices of salami, creamy cheese spread, and crunchy pickles. They are salty, tangy, creamy, and crisp in every bite. This recipe is perfect for parties, snack boards, game nights, lunch boxes, picnics, or low-carb appetizers.

The best thing about these roll-ups is how easy they are to prepare. You do not need cooking, baking, or complicated ingredients. With only a few simple items, you can make a flavorful finger food that looks neat and tastes delicious.

Why This Recipe Works

The flavor combination is simple but very balanced. Salami gives a rich, salty, meaty taste. Cream cheese adds smoothness and mild creaminess. Pickles bring crunch and acidity, which cuts through the richness of the meat and cheese.

Because the roll-ups are chilled before serving, they hold their shape well and are easy to slice into bite-sized pieces. They are also easy to customize with herbs, spices, mustard, or different types of pickles.

Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 20 to 24 thin slices of salami
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 6 to 8 whole dill pickles or pickle spears
  • 1 tablespoon fresh dill, finely chopped, optional
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper

Optional Add-Ins

  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 teaspoon ranch seasoning
  • Chopped chives
  • Red pepper flakes
  • Jalapeño slices
  • Everything bagel seasoning
  • A thin layer of shredded cheddar cheese

Step 1: Soften the Cream Cheese

Remove the cream cheese from the refrigerator and let it sit at room temperature for about 20 to 30 minutes.

Soft cream cheese spreads much more easily over the salami. If the cream cheese is too cold, it may tear the salami slices or create thick uneven patches.

Place the softened cream cheese in a bowl and stir it until smooth.

Step 2: Season the Cream Cheese

Add garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, and chopped dill to the cream cheese.

Mix until the seasonings are evenly combined.

For extra flavor, you can add a small spoon of Dijon mustard or ranch seasoning. The goal is to make the cream cheese flavorful without overpowering the salami and pickle.

Step 3: Prepare the Pickles

Pat the pickles dry with paper towels. This is an important step because too much moisture can make the roll-ups slippery and watery.

If you are using whole pickles, cut them into long spears. If the pickles are very thick, slice them into smaller pieces so they roll more easily.

Try to keep the pickle pieces long and even. This makes the roll-ups neater and easier to slice.
