Nana’s Nostalgic Frozen Fruit Salad

Preparation :

Step 1: Prepare the Creamy Base

In a large mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese and sweetened condensed milk. Use a hand mixer or a whisk to blend these ingredients together until smooth and creamy. This will be the rich, sweet base for your frozen fruit salad.

Step 2: Add the Fruit and Nuts

Gently fold in the drained crushed pineapple, fruit cocktail, halved maraschino cherries, chopped nuts, shredded coconut, and mini marshmallows into the creamy base. Be sure to mix everything evenly so that each bite has a delicious blend of flavors and textures.

Step 3: Incorporate the Whipped Topping

Next, gently fold in the thawed whipped topping. The whipped topping will lighten the mixture and give the frozen salad a fluffy, airy texture. Be careful not to overmix, as you want to maintain the lightness of the whipped topping.

Step 4: Pour into a Mold or Dish

Once all the ingredients are well combined, pour the mixture into a large freezer-safe dish, or you can use individual molds or cups for single servings. Spread the mixture evenly, smoothing the top with a spatula.

Step 5: Freeze

Cover the dish or molds with plastic wrap or aluminum foil, and place it in the freezer. Allow the salad to freeze for at least 4 hours, or overnight for best results. The longer it freezes, the more firm and sliceable it will become.

Step 6: Serve and Enjoy

Before serving, remove the frozen fruit salad from the freezer and let it sit at room temperature for about 5-10 minutes to make slicing easier. If using a mold, you can dip the bottom of the mold in warm water for a few seconds to help release the salad.

Slice the frozen salad into squares or scoop it out like ice cream and serve on a plate. Garnish with extra cherries, nuts, or a dollop of whipped cream for an extra touch.
