Sticky Garlic Butter Chicken Thighs
Sticky Garlic Butter Chicken Thighs are the kind of dinner that tastes far more elaborate than it actually is. Juicy, tender chicken thighs are pan-seared until beautifully golden, then coated in a glossy sauce made with butter, fresh garlic, honey, and a touch of soy sauce. The result is savory, slightly sweet, garlicky, and incredibly rich, with a sticky glaze that clings to every bite.
This recipe is perfect for a busy weeknight because everything comes together in one skillet, and the sauce is made from simple pantry ingredients.
Ingredients
For the Chicken
- 6 bone-in or boneless chicken thighs
- 1 teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- ½ teaspoon onion powder
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
For the Sticky Garlic Butter Sauce
- 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 5–6 cloves fresh garlic, finely minced
- ⅓ cup honey
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar or lemon juice
- ½ teaspoon smoked paprika
- ¼ teaspoon red pepper flakes, optional
- 2 tablespoons water
For Garnishing
- 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley
- 1 teaspoon sesame seeds, optional
- Thinly sliced green onions, optional
Step-by-Step Method
1. Prepare the Chicken
Start by patting the chicken thighs dry with paper towels. This small step is important because removing excess moisture helps the chicken develop a much better golden-brown crust.
Season both sides of the chicken with salt, black pepper, paprika, and onion powder. Rub the seasoning gently into the meat so every piece is well coated.
Let the chicken sit for about 5–10 minutes while you prepare the sauce ingredients.
2. Mix the Sauce
In a small bowl, combine the honey, soy sauce, apple cider vinegar, smoked paprika, red pepper flakes, and water.
Stir until the honey is incorporated into the mixture.
Keep the sauce nearby because once the chicken is browned, the remaining cooking process moves quickly.
