Bacon Cream Cheese Crack Dip
If you’re looking for a warm, creamy appetizer that disappears almost as quickly as you put it on the table, Bacon Cream Cheese Crack Dip is an easy choice. It combines rich cream cheese, crispy bacon, melty cheese, and savory seasonings into a thick, scoopable dip with plenty of flavor in every bite. It’s perfect for game days, family gatherings, potlucks, holiday parties, or a casual snack with friends.
What Makes This Dip So Good?
The magic of this recipe comes from the combination of textures and flavors. Cream cheese creates a smooth, rich base, while shredded cheese melts into it for extra cheesiness. Crispy bacon adds a smoky, salty crunch, and green onions bring a fresh contrast that keeps the dip from feeling too heavy.
The result is a comforting appetizer that pairs beautifully with crackers, tortilla chips, toasted bread, pretzels, or fresh vegetables.
Ingredients
- 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
- 1 cup sour cream
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- ½ cup shredded Monterey Jack cheese
- 6–8 slices bacon, cooked and crumbled
- 3 green onions, thinly sliced
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- ½ teaspoon onion powder
- ½ teaspoon smoked paprika
- ¼ teaspoon black pepper
- ¼ teaspoon salt, or to taste
- ½ cup additional shredded cheddar cheese for topping
Step-by-Step Method
1. Prepare the Bacon
Start by cooking the bacon until it is deeply golden and crisp. You want it firm enough to crumble easily without becoming chewy once it is mixed into the dip.
Transfer the cooked bacon to a paper towel-lined plate to absorb excess grease. Allow it to cool for a few minutes, then crumble or chop it into small pieces.
Set aside a little bacon for sprinkling over the top of the finished dip.
2. Soften the Cream Cheese
Place the cream cheese in a large mixing bowl and allow it to soften at room temperature.
Softened cream cheese is much easier to combine with the other ingredients and helps create a smoother dip.
If you are short on time, cut the cream cheese into smaller cubes before mixing.
3. Make the Creamy Base
Add the sour cream to the softened cream cheese.
Using a hand mixer or sturdy spoon, mix until the two ingredients are well combined and relatively smooth. A few small cream cheese pieces are fine, but try to eliminate any large lumps.
