Ingredients

For about 10–12 roll-ups, you’ll need:

  • 1 sheet refrigerated crescent roll dough or refrigerated pizza dough
  • 8–10 slices deli ham
  • 1½ cups shredded mozzarella or cheddar cheese
  • 2 tablespoons butter, melted
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon dried parsley
  • ¼ teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1 tablespoon grated Parmesan cheese, optional
  • A small pinch of black pepper

You can use either mozzarella for a stretchy, mild filling or cheddar for a sharper flavor. Swiss cheese is another excellent choice and pairs beautifully with ham.

Step 1: Prepare the Oven and Baking Sheet

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it. This prevents the roll-ups from sticking and makes cleanup much easier.

Allow the oven to fully preheat while you assemble the roll-ups.

Step 2: Prepare the Seasoned Butter

In a small bowl, combine the melted butter with the garlic powder, dried parsley, Italian seasoning, and Parmesan cheese if you’re using it.

Give everything a good stir and set the mixture aside.

This simple butter mixture adds a savory layer of flavor to the dough and gives the finished roll-ups a beautiful golden appearance.

Step 3: Roll Out the Dough

Place the refrigerated dough on a lightly floured work surface.

If you’re using pizza dough, gently roll it into a rectangle. Aim for an even thickness so the roll-ups bake consistently.

If you’re using crescent dough, separate the dough into rectangles rather than individual triangles when possible, pressing the seams together with your fingertips.

The goal is to create one fairly even sheet that can be covered with the filling.
