Butter Toffee Pretzels

Butter Toffee Pretzels are one of those addictive sweet-and-salty snacks that disappear faster than you expect. They combine crunchy pretzels with a rich buttery toffee coating that hardens into a glossy, caramelized shell. The result is a snack that’s perfect for holidays, movie nights, or homemade gifts.

What makes them special is the contrast: the saltiness of the pretzels balances the deep sweetness of the toffee, creating a flavor that feels simple but very satisfying. Even better, you only need a few basic ingredients and about 20–30 minutes of active cooking time.

Ingredients You’ll Need

  • 4–5 cups mini pretzels (twists or sticks)
  • 1 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup brown sugar (packed)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • Optional: chocolate chips, chopped nuts, or sea salt for topping

Step-by-Step Method

1. Prepare your baking tray

Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone mat. Spread the pretzels evenly across the surface. Try not to overcrowd them so the toffee can coat them properly later.

2. Make the toffee mixture

In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Once melted, add the brown sugar and stir constantly.

Keep cooking while stirring until the mixture starts to bubble gently. Let it boil for about 3–4 minutes. This is where the sugar caramelizes and develops that deep toffee flavor.
