- Salt and pepper, to taste
- 1 tbsp soy sauce (for marinating)
- 1 tsp sesame oil (for marinating)
- 1 tbsp cornstarch (for steak)
For the noodles and vegetables:
- 200g (7 oz) lo mein or egg noodles
- 1 cup bell peppers (red and green), thinly sliced
- 1 cup carrots, julienned
- ½ cup snap peas or broccoli florets
- 3 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 tbsp ginger, grated
- 2 tbsp vegetable oil
For the teriyaki sauce:
- ¼ cup soy sauce
- 2 tbsp honey or brown sugar
- 1 tbsp rice vinegar
- 1 tbsp oyster sauce (optional, for depth)
- 1 tsp sesame oil
- 1 tsp cornstarch mixed with 2 tbsp water (slurry)
For garnish:
- Sesame seeds
- Sliced green onions
- Chili flakes (optional)
Step-by-Step Instructions:
Step 1: Marinate the Proteins
In two separate bowls, marinate the steak and shrimp:
- Steak: Toss the thinly sliced steak with soy sauce, sesame oil, a pinch of salt and pepper, and cornstarch. Let it sit for at least 15 minutes.
- Shrimp: Season the shrimp with a little soy sauce and sesame oil. Let it rest while prepping other ingredients.
Step 2: Prepare the Noodles
Cook the noodles according to package instructions until al dente. Drain, rinse under cold water, and toss with a little sesame oil to prevent sticking. Set aside.
