Million Dollar Dip: A Creamy, Cheesy Party Dip Everyone Will Love
Million Dollar Dip is a rich, creamy, savory appetizer made with cheese, crispy bacon, green onions, almonds, and a smooth mayonnaise-based dressing. It is called “Million Dollar Dip” because it tastes luxurious even though it is made with simple, everyday ingredients. Every scoop is creamy, crunchy, salty, cheesy, and slightly smoky.
This dip is perfect for parties, game nights, family gatherings, holidays, potlucks, or quick snacks. It requires no baking, no complicated cooking, and very little preparation. You simply mix, chill, and serve. The longer it sits in the refrigerator, the better the flavors become.
What Is Million Dollar Dip?
Million Dollar Dip is a cold cheese dip made with shredded cheddar cheese, mayonnaise, cooked bacon, sliced almonds, and green onions. Some versions also include cream cheese or sour cream for a thicker, creamier texture.
The dip has a wonderful balance of flavors. The cheddar gives sharpness, bacon adds smoky saltiness, green onions bring freshness, and almonds add crunch. The creamy base holds everything together and makes it easy to scoop with crackers, chips, or vegetables.
Ingredients
Main Ingredients
- 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 cup mayonnaise
- ½ cup sour cream or softened cream cheese
- ½ cup cooked bacon, chopped or crumbled
- ½ cup sliced almonds
- ¼ cup green onions, finely chopped
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder
- ½ teaspoon onion powder
- ¼ teaspoon black pepper
- ¼ teaspoon paprika, optional
For Serving
- Buttery crackers
- Tortilla chips
- Pretzels
- Toasted bread slices
- Celery sticks
- Carrot sticks
- Cucumber slices
Step 1: Prepare the Bacon
Start by cooking the bacon until it becomes crispy. You can cook it in a skillet, bake it in the oven, or use an air fryer.
Once the bacon is cooked, place it on a paper towel-lined plate to remove extra grease. Let it cool completely, then chop or crumble it into small pieces.
Crispy bacon works best because it adds texture to the dip. Soft bacon can make the dip feel greasy, so make sure it is well-drained before mixing.
Step 2: Toast the Almonds
Place the sliced almonds in a dry skillet over medium-low heat.
Stir them for 2 to 4 minutes until they become lightly golden and fragrant. Watch carefully because almonds can burn quickly.
Toasting the almonds is optional, but it gives the dip a deeper nutty flavor and a better crunch. Once toasted, remove them from the pan and let them cool.
Step 3: Prepare the Creamy Base
In a large mixing bowl, add the mayonnaise and sour cream or softened cream cheese.
Mix until smooth and creamy.
If you want a lighter dip, use sour cream. If you want a thicker and richer dip, use cream cheese. You can also use half sour cream and half cream cheese for the best texture.
Add garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, and paprika. Stir well so the seasoning spreads evenly through the base.
